Recovering Marginalized Texts, Authors, and Cultures,
from Medieval Persian Poetry to the Expanded Star Wars Universe
Hungry for a New Type of Hero
All the works in this section confront a problem from our history and aim to confront our current history. From people with disabilities being treated unequally, women not being recognized for their talents as men are, and finally, to the government aiming to control what we consume, it is important to understand these deeply, rooted issues to empower change within society. Thankfully, popular culture is starting to face these problems more and more from an intersectional perspective. If these archives are studied more closely, it will start to make sense as to why popular culture is tackling some of these issues regarding identity politics. All of these items aim to empower change for the future, even if it means facing complicated pasts. When people read this they will know change is possible, even if it is small progress, through systematic and individual oppression.
